CONCEPTS / VALUE & POWER

Unit price

An amount, and what that amount buys.

A unit price names both an amount and what that amount buys.

“24 dollars” is incomplete. “24 USD per seat per month” tells us how to expand the price into a subscription total.

$24per seat per month×15billed seats×12months=$4,320subscription spend

Keep the units attached

USD / seat / month × seats × months leaves USD. Doubling the billed seats doubles the modeled total when price and time stay fixed. A lower per-seat price can still produce a higher total if more seats are billed.

Choose the same horizon

Comparing one month with one year answers a different question from comparing two options for a year. The commitment instrument gives both scenarios one shared duration and currency.

A total is still a partial view

This model assumes one constant monthly price and every selected seat billed for every month. Taxes, discounts, usage charges, setup, training and switching costs are excluded. It does not estimate value or recommend a purchase.

Original constructed example, constructed-subscription-v1. The formula follows from repeatedly adding a fixed monthly charge. No contract, market quote or organizational dataset is being represented.
